Dave began studying finance and economics while working as a Civilian Member of the RCMP. His growing interest in the financial services sector inspired him to write and pass his Mortgage Broker Licensing Exam in the spring of 2007, after nineteen plus years with the police force. At that time, Dave chose to accept a position with a successful brokerage in Vernon ; later moving to Dominion Lending / White House Mortgages in Kelowna in 2008.

Dave has always enjoyed the energy of people-helping industries. As a front line dispatcher with the RCMP, he strengthened his commitment to the community by helping people in crisis. Mortgage brokering was a natural second career choice because it offered a different approach to community building and helping people move ahead with their lives.

“One thing I am truly grateful for is that, as a mortgage finder / negotiator, I am far more likely to solve my clients’ problems.” Dave says, “I truly enjoy the challenge of working with all the pieces of a client’s financial picture and using the unlimited range of financial instruments at my disposal to put it all together. Providing solutions to help my clients become, or continue as, homeowners gives me great personal satisfaction.”

After 4 years Dave is still thoroughly enjoying his career change and the new window on the world it provides.

“Investing in Home Ownership is a major life event, so I do everything possible to get my clients into agreements that truly compliment their long and short term goals. I am also committed to educating young people and first time buyers on the ins and outs of becoming ‘mortgage ready.’ Securing an affordable mortgage for people who may have been turned down in the past gives me an incredible sense of accomplishment.”

When not at work serving his clients, Dave loves spending time with his son Kody. He has logged many hours on the sidelines as a proud ‘Sports Dad’, watching Kody compete in soccer and hockey and, more recently, Mixed Martial Arts. Both Kody and Dave are avid Kelowna Rockets fans and season ticket holders who rarely miss a game.

Dave himself is more than an arm chair enthusiast: As a competitive curler he played in two Briers and was chosen for the All-Star team both times. He has also been involved in a variety of other sports at a competitive level. Since moving to the Okanagan, has added snowboarding and martial arts to the list.

“I like to stay fit and eat healthy. I also love cooking, so I am always experimenting in the kitchen with healthy recipes.”

Dave publishes a monthly newsletter “In the Zone” for his readership. He is also an amateur wine maker, with a sincere appreciation for Okanagan wines.
